This is for the otw_onlinecon, and because I'm a masochist and feel like embarrassing myself.

Last Thursday, Ryan Phillippe was on The Tonight Show. Early in his career he played a gay character on One Life to Live, so, of course, Jay Leno thought it would be appropriate to ask him to pretend the camera was his "gay lover...Billy Bob," who "has just ridden in shirtless from Wyoming" and give it his "gayest look." Uh-huh.

Playwright Jeff Whitty wrote him a letter in which he included his "gayest look." Melissa McEwan of Shakesville posted her gayest look and invited other people to send theirs in. And LOTS of people have. Because Jay Leno is a homophobic asshole. Seriously, this is awesome. I just love how many people are calling Leno on his bullshit. Probably nothing will come of it, but it sure is fun to stand up and tell him "we are not amused." So visit mygayestlook.com and look at the photos, and send in your own if you want. Here's Zoe's and my gayest look:

Layniek and Zoe's Gayest Look for Leno

Psst! Due South fans: If you're fond of playing Six Degrees of Due South, one of the people who sent in their gayest look is, I believe, Daniel MacIvor. It's hard to tell for sure if it's *the* Daniel MacIvor, since the picture doesn't show his face, but *I* think it kind of looks like him.

LJ Interests meme results

  1. billy tallent:
Hard Core Logo is a truly wonderful movie, not just from a fannish perspective either. It's DEEP yo. That said, Billy Tallent is rilly rilly pretty, with the hands and the hair and the tattoo and the smoking and the BEING TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH JOE DICK.
  2. christopher buckley:
I love Christopher Buckley's books because they're hilariously funny. I mean, Little Green Men? With the news anchor who gets abducted by "aliens" and then ends up on a crusade to convince everybody it's real? And Thank You for Smoking? He manages to make a tobacco spokesman the hero.
  3. douglas adams:
Okay, Douglas Adams. Douglas Adams is, like, the God of British humor, as far as I'm concerned. I saw The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on the shelf at the library and thought the title was intriguing, and the rest is history. I've reread the Increasingly Inaccurately Named Hitchhiker's Trilogy tons of times and can quote huge parts of it from memory. Yes, I'm a dork. But I'm *lovable*.
  4. girls' bike club:
One of the funniest writers on the Internets is Sars, and her Girls' Bike Club series is just about the best thing ever. It's for famous people who do stupid things! What could be better than that? Mocking of Tom Cruise, and Stephen King, and Dubya, and Ted Kennedy, and--just, read it!
  5. hugh laurie:
Ah, House. I <3 House so much. Hugh Laurie is pretty and snarky, which is really the only reason to watch House, as far as I'm concerned. "Bros before hos, dude!"
  6. jon stewart:
Okay, here's the thing. Jon Stewart? Is really fucking smart, dude. And funny. And hot. That is all.
  7. mst3k:
MST3K. Just--this is my favorite show EVER. I discovered it in high school, when Picara happened across it on TV one weekend. It was the perfect show for us, because we make fun of pretty much everything we watch. There was a nerve-wracking week when the VCR broke right before Thanksgiving, and we had to convince our parents to get another one immediately so we could tape the Turkey Day marathon. That would have been, what, 1997? Good times.
  8. ramona milano:
Ramona Milano played Francesca Vecchio on due South. She tends to get overlooked a lot, but I really love her. She's so very pretty and I totally have a girl crush on her.
  9. television without pity:
Who doesn't like TWoP? There are recaps! And they are funny! I watched so many shows just to read the recaps. To wit: Tru Calling (ugh), Firefly (whee!), Trading Spaces, The Apprentice. And I read recaps for some shows (*cough*7thHeaven*cough*) without watching them at all, because, yeah. They suck that much. And the recaps confirm it. There are so many smart people at Television Without Pity, and they are all obsessed with television. I find that comforting.
  10. twitch city:
Twitch City is this weird Canadian show about a guy, Curtis, who stays inside all the time and watches television all day. Callum Keith Rennie had a role in it, as Newbie the grocery store clerk, and Molly Parker played Hope, Curtis' girlfriend. This show is just bizarrely funny. Curtis' favorite show is Rex Reilly, which is pretty much a Jerry Springer type show, and each episode of Twitch City is named after the episode of Rex Reilly Curtis watches in it. So, for example, the first episode is called "I Slept With My Mother." Also, there's this thing with cats. They're, like, trying to take over the world, or something. If you haven't seen it, you absolutely must, is all I can say.

So I did some research last night on IMDb, which is wicked cool because it lists all the guest stars on The X-Files by episode. Points of interest my research turned up are behind the cut tag: )

Yes, I was bored. What's your point?

There's probably more Due South guest stars who were on The X-Files, but these were the ones whose names jumped out at me. Plus the other people, of course.

Also, somebody claims that James Allodi is in Chicago Holiday, though IMDb doesn't list it. Now I totally have to check that out, because I am currently stalking James Allodi. In a non-creepy way.

They came, they came, they came! *twirls*

The packaging is just as horrendous as rumored. The DVDs are double-sided (ugh), and they overlap in the case in an annoying way. Plus, they were all free-floating in the case during shipping, in order to allow the maximum number of scratches to occur in transit. I've watched one episode, which seemed to work fine. We'll have to see about the other discs.

I watched Red, White, or Blue, because it has James Allodi in it (thanks to [info]picara for the heads-up on that). It turned out I hadn't seen this episode before, either. It wasn't one of the better episodes overall; it didn't make a whole lot of sense. Plus it's a sequel to the train episode where Fraser and Thatcher kiss, so we had to deal with that whole stupid scenario again some more. However James Allodi is rilly rilly rilly cute, even when he's only onscreen for five seconds and doesn't get to do very much.

Ooh, and I found out the paper that was supposed to be due next Thursday has been pushed back to the Thursday after that, which rocks liek whoa.

I'm at the TWU library, using one of the laptops you can check out (wireless Internet!). They're for research purposes only, not for "word processing personal email and chat." So naturally I'm updating LJ.

I've just finished the assignment that's due at midnight. I had to make a webpage telling a class how to do a research project. (You can see it here if you care. And it's damn beautiful, so you should care!) I was feeling really depressed and having absolutely no success getting started, but Mary Beth and I got together and worked on it, which helped. We also went to eat dinner at Black Eyed Pea, which was incredibly fun.

I will be getting a tax refund this year, for the first time ever. And. Um. I've already spent part of it. On this and this. And I am so very excited! As soon as they arrive, I will naturally have to watch TV for approximately 37 hours straight, squeeing delightedly every few seconds. I should probably get around to actually sending in my tax returns, so I can get back the money I've, um, already spent. Heh.

Ooh! Congratulations to Guy for getting promoted! You rock liek whoa.

Okay, I just posted, but then I ran across this: Paul Gross is a giant dork and I love him for it. Because, OMG isn't he just so cute?! And I don't normally go on and on about Paul Gross, because there are other people I'd rather squee over. But. Wow. This picture just makes me smile every time I look at it. He is sooo cute!

Okay, I'm done being a fangirl (for the moment). You can stop hiding now, Guy. ;)
